October 8, 2013 – Kitchener, ON – Miovision, a leading innovator and provider of intelligent traffic data management solutions, was recognized for donating the most food by a medium-sized company to the Waterloo Region Food Bank.

Within the past year, Miovision has donated 4,544 lbs of food to the Waterloo Region Food Bank. This food was donated through the Miovision Canstruction Challenge which is an annual donation drive.

“The Food Bank is pleased to recognize Miovision as a corporate leader,” said Wendi Campbell, ‎Executive Director, Food Bank of Waterloo Region. “This annual award recognizes businesses who not only run successful fundraising and foodraising initiatives but are leaders in the business community, setting an example for others to give back. Miovision contributions are an important part of the community effort to ensure that no one goes hungry.”

“I am proud to accept this on behalf of the Miovision employees. We all live in the Region and we’re happy that we can contribute in a positive way to those in need,” stated Kurtis McBride, CEO of Miovision. “By having an annual competition, we’re instilling a culture of giving back to the community. We’re looking forward to this coming year, where we hope to work with other local tech companies.”

Canstruction is a competition among Miovision employees to raise non-perishable food items for the Food Bank for the December Holiday Season. Employees purchase food items and build a creative food structure. Previous structures have been various animals, R2D2 from Star Wars, a traffic light and more.

Andrew Jackson and Tim Ellis from the Accelerator Centre presented this award to Kurtis McBride, CEO of Miovision, on Monday morning at the Miovision Kitchener offices. As a reward, Miovision and the Food Bank of Waterloo Region will be providing a pizza party for employees.
