Several Miovision employees help load the truck with donations for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. In total, Miovision employees raised 4,544 lbs in the company’s Annual Canstruction Challenge.

January 15, 2013 – Kitchener, ON – Miovision, a leading innovator and provider of intelligent traffic data management solutions, took part in the Canstruction Challenge with all its employees on the afternoon of December 20, 2012. In total, the company was able to raise 4,544 lbs (about 1,370 lbs more than last year) for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

Canstruction is an annual competition among Miovision employees that takes place right before the December Holidays to raise non-perishable food items for the Food Bank. Employees purchase food items and build a structure using them. Previous structures have been animals, R2D2 from Star Wars, a traffic light and more.

Last year’s winner was a giant spaceship that was so tall, a couple ceiling tiles needed to be removed. This year’s winner was Homer Simpson from the TV cartoon, The Simpsons. Winners are selected on a number of criteria including creativity, quantity and quality of food.

Not only was this for a great cause, but a fun initiative for employees to take part in. “This is becoming an annual initiative at Miovision. It’s a fun way for us to give back to the community and those in need,” says Natalie Dumond, Human Resources Manager at Miovision. “For being an engineering company, it’s cool to see what our employees are coming up with.”
