March 27, 2013 – Kitchener, ON – Miovision, a leading innovator and provider of intelligent traffic data management solutions, was named as a top employer by the University of Waterloo.  This award was presented to Miovision on March 19, 2013 at the Top Employers Celebration in the Tannery Event Centre.  Miovision received recognition for their co-op recruitment program, specifically hiring first-term co-op students.

Each year, Miovision hires several co-op students from the local post-secondary institutions.  Over the years, many co-op students have returned for additional work terms, have been offered full-time positions after graduation, or have referred other students to find placements with Miovision.

The company was founded by three engineering graduates from the University of Waterloo, where they learned the value of participating in co-operative education programs. Miovision started operations in the Accelerator Centre, which is an incubator for start-ups that rise out of academic institutions such as the University of Waterloo.  As a graduate company from the Accelerator Centre, Miovision also supports and contributes to many other mentorship programs, such as Shad Valley.

“As a former student in the co-op program myself, I was passionate and driven to make a difference in an innovative company,” stated Kurtis McBride, Co-Founder and CEO of Miovision. “I’m proud that Miovision is recognized for this award and can provide opportunities for students who feel the same drive.”
