Kitchener, Ontario – November 2, 2012  Miovision Technologies, a leading innovator and provider of intelligent traffic data management solutions, has been named Waterloo Region’s 2012 Business of the Year by the Junior Achievement Business Spirit Awards. Miovision was one of six organizations recognized by the Junior Achievement at their annual awards gala.

The Business of the Year award, as sponsored by BMO Financial Group, is awarded to the company that demonstrates excellence in the areas of innovation, marketing distinction, community and corporate citizenship, and a commitment to fostering environmental sustainability, youth mentorship and service quality. Junior Achievement also commended Miovision for its advanced traffic management software and hardware solutions, which are known for their versatility and ease of use, and ability to save end users’ time while in the field.

Kevin Madill, co-founder and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of Miovision, accepted the Business of the Year Award on the company’s behalf. “Miovision is grateful to Junior Achievement, its sponsors, volunteers and youth Achievers for this incredible honour,” says Madill. “Waterloo Region is known for its innovation, entrepreneurship and industry leadership. We’re proud to have been recognized alongside the other winners as one of the companies that are helping to promote that reputation and expand the region’s success.”

In just seven years (founded in 2005), Miovision has grown from a three-person start-up to an international leader of traffic management solutions in 28 countries. Miovision’s Scout Video Collection Unit (VCU) revolutionized the traffic data collection market, using video detection technology to automate what had been a manual process of completing vehicle counts for traffic studies.
