Miovision’s Kurtis McBride Receives 2013 Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Greater KW Chamber of Commerce.

Kitchener, Ontario – February 27, 2013 – Miovision Technologies, a leading innovator and provider of intelligent traffic data management solutions, is proud to announce that company CEO and co-founder, Kurtis McBride, is this year’ recipient of the 2013 Young Entrepreneur Award from the Greater Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented during the annual Business Excellence Awards at the Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener.

McBride founded Miovision with Kevin Madill and Tony Brijpaul in 2005 while attending the University of Waterloo. Miovision was the first graduate of the Accelerator Centre, which helps start-up companies commercialize their R&D technologies.  Miovision’s video collection unit (VCU), which got its start at the Accelerator Centre, has since been sold to over 400 customers in over 30 countries, trusted by traffic engineers at government agencies and engineering firms worldwide.

Under McBride’s leadership, Miovision has grown from three employees in 2005 to over 100 today, including an office in Cologne, Germany. As Miovision continues to grow, McBride and the management team provide resources to inspire and guide employee development and success, including internal leadership seminars, monthly town-hall meetings and team-building events.

McBride has been an integral part of the Miovision corporate culture, instilling passion, creativity and drive within employees. This has resulted in low turnover and Miovision being recognized as a top employer in Waterloo Region for 2013.

“Waterloo Region is home to so many inspirational entrepreneurs and incredible businesses. To be recognized by the Greater Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce with this award, and to join the company of notable past winners, is a huge honour for which I am most grateful,” says Kurtis McBride, CEO of Miovision.
